ABOUT US
Our Mission, Our Values
At Agrosynapsis, our mission is to help seed industries to develop molecular solutions for their breeding programs. But we don’t believe in success if our work is not inspired by our values: collaboration, diversity of ideas and adaptibility.
Our name reflects our values
collaboration
In ancient Greek, synapsis means “coming together” or “connecting two points.” Similarly, we view our clients as partners, collaborating with their input and vision to create solutions tailored to their unique needs.
Diversity of Ideas
In genetics, synapsis is the moment when two homologous chromosomes come together in meiosis, exchanging genetic material and generating new diversity. Breeding programs thrive only when breeders have access to a diverse genetic material. Likewise, we try to make our projects thrive by connecting with people, exchanging ideas and exploring diverse possibilities to find the best solutions.
Adaptability
In human biology, synapse describes the billions of connections between brain neurons, creating a dynamic network that rewires itself constantly by responding to changing circumstances, experiences, and environments. Likewise, we adapt our solutions to a costantly ever-evolving world of new technologies, climate challenges and social needs.

Rachil Koumproglou
Founder & Chief Scientist
As a researcher, my focus was always to provide pragmatic solutions for the breeders whether I treat with simple mendelian traits or complex quantitative ones. When I design and implement a project, I use resources from different fields: public knowledge, powerful analytic tools, and the latest technologies in sequencing and genotyping.
I started my journey as Plant Genetisist during my PhD degree in the University of Birmingham (UK) . I continued up this road working in the public and private sector, where I had the luck to blend academic insight with practical experience.
During this journey I was interacting with my fellow breeders constantly, observing their enthusiasm to use new molecular tools for doing selection and expand their knowledge in the field of plant genomics. To this mission, I have facilitated training sessions and interactive workshops, and I have cultivated my passion to trasform complex scientific concepts to engaging narratives.
